Liberty Vision Founder, CEO, and Chief Medical Officer Dr. Paul T. Finger returned to his alma mater on August 2, 2026, to deliver the keynote address at Tulane University School of Medicine’s White Coat Ceremony for the incoming Class of 2030.

It was a full-circle moment. Dr. Finger began his own medical career as a Tulane medical student in 1980. More than four decades later, he stood before the newest class of Tulane physicians — this time as Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Ocular Tumor Service at his alma mater, and as a founder whose innovations have reshaped how eye cancer is treated worldwide.

A career built at Tulane

Dr. Finger’s path from Tulane medical student to internationally recognized ocular oncologist has spanned more than 40 years. He developed the AJCC staging system used to classify eye cancers globally, chaired the American Brachytherapy Society’s Ophthalmic Oncology Task Force in creating consensus guidelines for plaque brachytherapy, and in November 2025 delivered the Zimmerman Lecture at the American Academy of Ophthalmology’s annual meeting — one of the field’s highest honors. That same clinical experience led him to found Liberty Vision, bringing the LV Y-90 Disc and iWand® applicator system to ocular oncologists treating eye tumors and benign growths.

Passing it forward
